Garden City – Place Vision

  • Place Vision

A reimagined mixed use centre, tactfully weaving in elements of the Western Australian story and connecting with its civic neighbours.

Garden City Shopping Centre is a major regional shopping centre in Booragoon, south of the Swan River in Perth. Already a successful and high-performing centre, the proposed redevelopment and extension of Garden City will improve the customer experience with initiatives such as a ‘High Street’ precinct, greater connection to and partnerships with community facilities, better centre integration with the surrounding civic precinct and the creation of engaging public spaces.

AMP Capital engaged Village Well to develop a compelling vision to underpin and guide masterplanning and future development decisions regarding the centre’s refurbishment. Village Well embarked on a place visioning process for Garden City, which included a visioning workshop with Garden City’s operational and development teams facilitated by Village Well.

The outcomes of the workshop, in conjunction with desktop research and site visit have informed the development of a Place Vision Report, providing a compelling and unique narrative for Garden City and experience vignettes detailing tailored activities for key target markets. The Report has been used by the project team to guide planning, urban design, Placemaking and leasing decisions at the Centre.
