Context & Place of Vision

Context

The Macedon Ranges Thriving Villages project was initiated to develop community-owned visions and activation plans for nine towns across the region. These towns, each with unique identities, face challenges including the need for sustainable growth, vibrant community hubs, and cohesive collaboration between diverse stakeholders.

Village Well was engaged for our placemaking and community engagement expertise. Applying a place-led approach we co-created tailored visions, practical strategies, and activation plans to revitalise public spaces and strengthen local leadership.

Place of Vision

"Sustainable growth and vibrant community hubs"

Impact & Result

Impact

  • Delivered unified visions and actionable plans for four towns, with the remaining five towns in progress.

  • Creating practical, actionable strategies to revitalise activity centres and public spaces.

  • Empowering local traders to take leadership roles in their towns’ transformations, with council acting as a delivery partner.

  • Inspired the formation of community-led action groups to drive initiatives forward.

  • Enabled grant applications for funding, supporting the realisation of key projects.

Result

Through Village Well’s place-led approach, the Macedon Ranges Thriving Villages project has successfully laid the groundwork for sustainable growth, strengthened community ties, and empowered stakeholders to take ownership of their towns’ futures. This model is already guiding investment and activating vibrant, connected communities across the region
